May Open Studios

Welcome to my May open studios event. I am so pleased you have found your way to this digital space. While I look forward to receiving any visitors this weekend I am also aware that many of my followers are unable to make the journey to Fife. I am only sorry I am unable to send through the airwaves the smell of turpentine that enhances any studio visit but I do hope that from the work you see below you can sense the salt and the silence, the fervour, the weight of the air and the travelling light with the paintings. Landscape painting for me is rarely about what I simply see but more often about the unseen. The observation of a world within and an understanding of the systems at play in the wider context of environment and climate. Time is a factor that touches most pieces, the overlap of moments to make the whole.

Purchasing through this website should be a simple process but if you have any questions please get in touch.

Painting purchases can be made during exhibitions with the galleries Helen works with or directly from the studio. Selected paintings are also available on-line on this webpage. There’s more to be discovered on the paintings menu too. If you have any questions about shipping please contact Helen using the form at the bottom of the page. Large paintings for International delivery require an individual approach. Purchase information and terms can be seen here.

New Release

May Open Studios

As artists we all strive to find our voices, our mark. It is what makes us who we are and gives us our identity. Over years of practice there has been a constant self perpetuated drive mainly because of the need and want to improve and find the perfect way of expressing what I want to say in paint, which I hasten to add is often in flux and changing which makes the process even more difficult. If it was easy I often wonder if I would paint. When I finally find the language that’s right for that moment it feels as though nothing else matters. It perhaps can be thought of as a kind of mediation, the mark-making and paint flow…

Shipping to the EU

Following Brexit, the rules around VAT and import duty on EU shipments changed and are unfortunately very complex. As a result I am sorry to say I am no longer able to sell directly to the EU. If you are in the EU please contact me and I can arrange a sale through one of my galleries.
